Julia started talking about her birthday and having friends over to her house for a party in January! She just didn't realize then that her May birthday was quite a ways in the future. The understanding of and desire for social events definitely starts clicking for young children when they are 2 years old! So, we had several friends over, and Julia really enjoyed being the center of attention. We kept it simple...painted tote bags, ate fruit and crackers/cheese, had cake and opened presents. The rest was a little bit of free play and everyone was off! Julia gave each person a hug after opening their gift. :o)
